ING-DiBa AG

ING-DiBa is another German Direct bank. Along with its free current account, it offers a variety of interesting finacial products. It is therefore perfectly suited as a secondary account, combining the best of two products. The ING-DiBa current account conditions are as follows:
- no account management fees
- free VISA credit card
- free giro/maestro card
- withdraw cash at millions of ATMs and pay with VISA card for free within the eurozone (Rest of World: 1,75% FX fee)
- overdraft facility independent of actual salary transfers
- framework credit (‘Rahmenkredit’) of up to 25.000 €
What are ING-DiBa’s most remarkable features?
The bad news first: As opposed to DKB, a FX fee of 1,75 % applies. And yet, ING-DiBa offers some interesting financial products, making it a perfect secondary account. Simply combine the best of two worlds. You are not restricted to having only one current account!
In case of sudden emergencies, liquidity is your friend. With ING’s framework credit (‘Rahmenkredit’), you can access up to 25.000 €, anytime. Pay interest only for the days you actually withdraw money. Your creditworthiness will only be evaluated at the time you apply for your framework credit. Once in a emergency situation (accidents, costs for surgeries, unemployment and so on…), you can at least access some money you urgently need. Note: You usually won’t get an installment loan once you are in a situation of emergency at any bank. So take care of your future self now, apply for a framework credit! It’s totally free, unless you need to use it (which hopefully never happens).
Another great feature: You can install an overdraft facility without the need to have your salary transferred to your ING-DiBa account. All ING-DiBa wants to see is your proof of salary for the last three months.
Thus you are free to choose another primary account for incoming salary transfers. That way, you can increase your total overdraft facility. You need not fear costly declined direct debits on any of your accounts, thanks to your overdraft facility.
Who is eligible to open an account at ING-DiBA?
In order to be eligible to open a DKB current account, you’ll require the following:
In order to legitimize, you’ll need to provide proof of address (‘Meldebescheinigung’) plus a proof of identity (i.e. passport or ID card). If you apply for your ING-DiBa account online, ING-DiBa will do a background check on your SCHUFA. You may be declined if your SCHUFA credit scores are really bad.
Advice: Get your personalSCHUFA report before applying for your ING-DiBa account! ING-DiBa will check your ‘Schufa-Score für Banken, Version 2.0’. The higher this specific score, the better.
Based on your SCHUFA score and additonal information you were supplying (such as salary, age and address), ING-DiBa will automatically calculate an internal credit score. Based on that score, you will either be accepted or declined as a new customer.
You’ll also need to provide your Tax Identification number (TIN), so have it at hand.
Why ING-DiBa is especially well suited for persons with international relations
As opposed to many other German banks, you can keep your ING-DiBa account even when moving abroad permanently. You can profit from your internal credit history, and get the best conditions even in countries where current accounts are quite expensive.
Plus many things more…
You may open a securities account free of management fees if you decide to save for your future self. Monthly investment plans help you build wealth, step-by-step.
You even may decide to save for your children. ING-DiBa probably has a nice account you can open in your child’s name (your whole family might even profit from tax exemptions under certain circumstances).
